Frostbite Series - 2024

Restronguet SC runs a popular Frostbite series on Sundays from November to December and the series is open to visitors. In 2024 the series is extended by two days, so there are six Sundays with standard Restronguet Club Racing and then a final Sunday (15th December) with the World famous Christmas Pudding pursuit race.

On Sundays from 3rd November to 8th December there are 2 standard club races using standard club sailing instructions (available soon) with the first warning signal at 1300.

On 15th December is the Christmas Pudding Pursuit race (the link to sailing instructions is available below). The warning signal is 1100.

Cost

The cost is £27 per boat including helm and crew, or £15 for under 18s.

Existing RSC Members who have completed a Club Series Racing Entry for 2024 are already registered for the Frostbite series and do not need to enter this event separately.

RS200 Coaching

We are hoping to run RS200 coaching for visiting sailors on alternative weekends depending on interest, in addition to entry to the Frostbite Series. Training will take place on some Sunday mornings, then you can put your skills to practise in Sunday afternoon racing with the other Restronguet 200s. The training will be suitable for sailors who have a couple experience of club racing, those new to the class and sailors who are up to mid-fleet in events like the Ugly Tour. It isn't suitable for those new to sailing. We regularly have 3 or 4 youth boats training, so there should be plenty of competition.

These sessions will only take place if there is enough interest, so please contact us ASAP.  To take part in the RS200 coached sessions you will need to sign up for the Frostbite Series and you will need to pay £5 per-boat per-training session. For more info contact us via Messenger at Restronguet Sailing Club Youth or via the Restronguet Sailing Club Youth Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/restronguetsailingclubyouth

Boat storage

If there is space you can store your boat at the club (which there always has been). RSC has limited spaces for visitor dinghies (monohull only), dependent on existing members vacating spaces for the winter. If you do want to bring a monohull dinghy down then email the club at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to check space availability in the dinghy park. All dinghies must be removed by the 19th December 2023. It is compulsory to have a tie down rope (there are ropes laid to tie this to) and we would advise bringing wedges for the wheels, as some of our spaces are on a bit of a slope.

There is generally (dependent on tide) room on the beach to rig a towed dinghy but you cannot leave the car or trailer on the beach while you sail!

Entry

Entry will be available online closer to the time.

Club members do not need to enter the Frostbite Series. However, you do need to make sure you have entered your boat (with the correct sail number) for club racing here (you need to sign in to Webcollect).

The club has excellent, clean and modern, facilities comprising purpose-built changing rooms, kitchen, clubroom and bar. The boat park, to the rear of the club, holds some 150 dinghies and there is ample of land available at nearby Windsport to accommodate the fleets. Nearby Mylor Marina has recently developed its extensive shore amenities and offers excellent chandlery and launching facilities, along with a popular restaurant, wine bar and café. The club can also provide a purpose-built committee boat…
