Medium division

The medium division fleet covers all dinghies, apart from Fireflys, ILCA 4s (i.e. Laser 4.7), ILCA 7s (i.e. Laser Radial), monohulls with asymmetric spinnakers and multi-hulls, with a Portsmouth Yardstick between 1040 and 1260. At the time of writing it's mainly comprised of RS Aeros (5s, 6s or 7s), Europes and Laser IIs (without spinnakers).

Racing takes place on a Wednesday evening (one race) during the late spring and summer months, with three race series running through the year. There is also racing on a Sunday afternoon (two races) from early April until late December.

Additionally if the weather is encouraging you to sail outside the racing times, members can launch at virtually any state of the tide following the fairly recent extension to the slipway that makes getting boats down to the water’s edge that much easier.

If you are a prospective RSC member and looking for a boat to sail and race, why not have a look at the various Class websites below and see if there is anything there that catches your eye. If you come down to the club on a race day and meet the Medium Fleet sailors, and discuss anything from joining the Club, training that’s available if required, to looking at the different Classes available to sail in.
